WOMEN'S CENTER PROJECT

Castle Hill Lions members Laurie, Jenni and Bruce recently had discussions with the staff at ‘The Women’s Centre’ on Patrick Street Townsville about how we could assist them in some small way in their work. Our Board decided that Castle Hill Lions Club would donate a number of ‘Emergency Assistance Packs’.
These packs are made up of a bag with some basic personal care and clothing items. At the discretion of the staff at the ‘Women’s Centre’ the packs would be provided to any women who they assess as requiring this type of assistance as they present to the Centre.
‘On average 12,500 women a year will ask for assistance at The Women’s Centre in Townsville’. (http://www.thewomenscentre.org.au/)
The Centre offers women a safe space in which to access free services that include:

• Free counseling
• Information and referral
• Homelessness support
• Sexual assault support service
• Group activities such as yoga and craft
• Therapeutic groups
• Playgroup

PROGRESSIVE DINNER 

Fantastic night starters at the Den, Soup in the Park, yummy meat and veg understars at the Shed! Completing the night back at the Den for Sweets!

Ticket sales, donations, raffles on the night and plenty of drinks sold , great fun and entertainmnet and all round great event raising $2894 for Mental Health - Helping Aussie farmers!

 Gala Charity Ball - Carlyle Gardens Resort

Townsville Castle Hill Lions and The Carlyle Gardens Social and Activities Club together with Lend Lease (Primelife) Carlyle Gardens Resort have an annual Gala Charity Ball at Carlton Theatre, Carlyle Gardens Resort, Condon. This year's extravaganza was held on Saturday 24th July, 2010.  The Gala Charity Ball was in support of Angel Flight Australia and Legacy Australia. Lots of entertainment, dancing and great food was offered which provided a totally enjoyable evening.

 

 Lions "Rex Prior Trees of Peace Park"

Lion Rex Prior was a local prominent dignitary in Townsville for many years and also a Member of the Townsville Castle Hill Lions Club. In Honour of past achievements of past member Lion Rex Prior - Townsville Castle Hill Lions Club arranged to have the sponsored Trees of Peace Park in Currajong to be updated and name changed to "Rex Prior Trees of Peace Park"

 

 

Coast Guard Townsville.

Townsville Castle Hill Lions Club and Coast Guard Townsville Fotilla (QF8) has a strong association which spans over many decades. The Australian Volunteer Coast Guard, guards the coast in the most effective way - initially by education, example, examination and finally by search & rescue.  Townsville Fotilla (QF8) currently is upgrading the main rescue vessel and Townsville Castle Hill Lions Club are proud to be a major sponsor of this project.

Townsville Castle Hill Lions currently have several Sausage Sizzles projects (Bunnings, John Bradley Retravision and Gray's Auctions). We can offer full BBQ/Sausage Sizzle facilities for your project. Relay for Life

Townsville Castle Hill Lions has partipated in this annual event for several years. Lion Warren Payne has been the major organiser with the Club and Cancer Council. This is a very enjoyable event and much fun is had by all involved. The 2010 Townsville event was recently held with Townsville Castle Hill Lions participating with 2 Teams.  Cetificate of Appreciation and Letter of Thanks from Relay for Life.

Seniors Picnic in the Park 2010

Seniors Picnic in the Park is the highlight of a week of activities organised by Council and Townsville Region Committee on the Aged to celebrate Seniors Week.  This event involves entertainment, a sit down lunch and Amcal Lifestyle Expo.   Enjoy a free morning tea and sit down luncheon plus entertainment, this year being provided by Ian Stenlake.   Lions Club of Townsville Castle Hill are proud to provide catering services in conjunction with the Townsville City Council.
